It was an honor to work in your presence; the most talented machinist of our time. As a young man you taught me about perfection, and striving for only the best; a life lesson I carry with me today.
Thank you for all memories. Give my Dad a hug.

Rest in peace Kenny. Please look up Denny rest in peace,

  • Mike Shannon (Saturday, April 26 14 03:06 pm EDT)

Rest Peacefully Kenny. We lost touch during the 60’s and I have tried at various times to make contact, including attending the California Hot Rod Reunion and the L.A. Roadsters show but always
missed finding you. I remember well working alongside you in the next stall at Allen Gwynn Chevrolet in Glendale and chasing around all over L.A.in your ’59 El Camino for dragster parts during
lunchtime. You, Ed and I were really “Young” mechanics to be working in a dealership and we did excellent work! Those were great times, as well as the numerous Saturday afternoons when Arlene and I
would go to Lions drag strip to watch you race and half the time you would be “Top Eliminator” and win a $500 bond (that cashed in for about $375). I never really thanked you enough for faithfully
sending me the weekly “Drag News” issue during the time I was the in the western Pacific aboard the USS Ranger.
This morning I got the idea to look on the internet )Google) to see if I could locate you and what a sorrowful discovery to see a two day old obituary! I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes feeling
sorry and dumb for not trying harder to connect through all these years. I read clippings about you occasionally and spoke of you to Don Prudhomme who I met a few years ago riding our Harleys. But I
never succeeded in establishing contact. Seeing your picture in the obituary, with that smile, brings back some memories of what a happy guy you were.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Augie was a regular participant, along with his neighbors, to the Palos Park Senior Club. I run it each month and believe he really enjoyed being out, having lunch
with friends and then enjoying the entertainment. He will be missed.
