July 29th at the Wayside Chapel, 12700 Southwest Highway, Palos Park for a Memorial Service, 2:30 p.m.

 

Reception following the service at the Jenny's Steak and Banquets, 11041 Menard Avenue, Chicago Ridge, 5:00 p.m.  We ask that people consider sharing a memory of our dad with the group at the reception.

 

In lieu of flowers donations to the Open Books Chicago, www.open-books.org, would be appreciated. Our dad was a voracious reader and loved sharing his passion for knowledge with others.

Michael E. Mathis, age 67.

 

Beloved husband of Mary (nee Lyons).

Devoted father of Michael (Katie) Mathis & Marcia (Edgar) Sarmiento.

Loving grandfather of Kai, Jonas, Michael & Amanda.

Dear brother of Richard (Rosemary) Mathis & the late William, Sandra & Tony.

Survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

Michael worked many years with the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department and was a WGN traffic reporter.

Richard L. Leonard, age 93.

 

 

Devoted husband, father & grandfather.

Resident of Palos Heights since 1962.

 

Born and raised on a farm in Elkader, Iowa.

 

Proud U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII. Deployed as a trained sniper in France two weeks after the Normandy invasion.  He was wounded in action spending most of the war in an army hospital in England. During his stay at the hospital he met the future Queen of England during one of her bedside visits.

 

Moved to Chicago after the war, receiving a BS degree in radio engineering in 1949.

 

Employed by RCA for 37 years rising to the position of Master Technician.

 

Met his future wife Stephanie at the Trianon Ballroom getting married in 1950. Raising four children here in Palos Heights.  As a quiet and unassuming man he was home every night being loving and thoughtful husband to Stephanie while being a great father to his children.

Family & Friends will gather Friday, July 28th at Incarnation Church, 5757 W. 127th Street Palos Heights for a Memorial Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. followed by Military Honors.

 

Inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be private.

 

David M. Krizka, Sr.

 

Beloved husband of Velma (nee Iturralde) for 32 years. Loving father of Catherine, David II, Angelica, Elizabeth.  Cherished son of Frances (nee Stauber) and the late George Krizka. Dear brother of George (Laurie), Allen (Julie), Denise, Martin Sr (Lucienne), Kayne, and Christopher. Adoring uncle to many nieces and nephews. Highly regarded by countless friends.

 

Member of the Knights of Columbus, past president and long time member of Builders Tee Club. Musician for 47 years, serving as music director and cantor for the Archdiocese of Chicago, Nativity of Our Lord and All Saints – St. Anthony Parishes. Alumnus of Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary, Richard J. Daley College, and St. Xavier University. An avid bowler, golfer and fisherman.

 

Family and friends will gather Sunday, July 16th for a visitation from 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 8925 South Kostner Avenue, Hometown.

 

Family and friends will gather Monday, July 17th for a 10:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Loretto Church.

Diane L. Flodin (nee Rigoni). Dedicated Teacher for over 40 years at Dist. 123 in Oak Lawn & Passionate Volunteer for WAGS Animal Assisted Therapy at Palos Community Hospital.

 

Beloved wife of the late; Kenneth Muhr & Robert Flodin.

Loving mother of Sherry Muhr & Michael (Angeline) Muhr.
