Linda Mary Walker (nee McCann).

Linda was born June 6, 1951 to Peter and Mary McCann.  She grew up in Chicago and was married to Michael in 1973.  Together, they raised their family in Oak Lawn.  Linda or "Lin" as she was affectionately called was adored by her children Carla (Rick) Zavala and Michael II (Diana) Walker.  Linda loved her children and her grandchildren more than anything.  Julia, Anabella, Sofia, Michael III, Layla (and any future grand babies) now have a loving and feisty angel to watch over them always.     Linda was the kindest soul who welcomed anyone with open arms. Her thoughtfulness, kindness, and warm hugs will be missed dearly as well as her quick wit and zest for life.  She would drop anything to help her family or friends and never expected anything in return.  She forgave openly and loved unconditionally.  Her presence made anything fun.  Lin was always quick to drop in on her grandkids just because she wanted to hug, kiss and spoil her babies.  She loved and she was loved.     In addition to her husband, children and grand babies, Linda is missed by her siblings:  Peter, Cynthia (William) Fitzgerald, Diane (late David) Pigott, Patrick (JoJo) and Timothy. She is the fond sister in law of:  Patricia (late William) Fahey, Kenneth, Sheila (Mike) Gallus, and Dean (Nancy) Walker.  She was a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews who will miss taking a family photo on the stairs during the holidays.     Linda, Lin, Mom, Ma, Gramma...we love you to the moon and back and as high as the sky.  We miss you, love you, and will keep you in our hearts until we meet again.     Visitation Thursday, May 31st from 3 until 8 p.m.   Chapel prayers Friday, June 1st, 9:30 a.m. at the Kerry Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights proceeding to Saint Alexander Church, Mass 10:00 a.m.   Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.   As in keeping with her giving spirit, contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 954 W. Washington Blvd., Suite 305, Chicago, IL 60607 would be appreciated as this organization was close to Linda's heart because of her own mother.

    Carla and Mike and families,
Unhappily, I won't be able to make it back to Chicago so soon after my recent trips there. Please know that your mom isn't forgotten -- she was one of the most loving and certainly the most generous of all her cousins. I will not forget her.

Geraldine “Gerri” Rahl

Longtime resident of Tempe, Arizona died May 25th at 3:50 a.m. in Illinois with her family at Advocate South Suburban Hospital Hospice facility. Born in 1934, to Polish immigrants, she lived in Chicago until she married her first husband, Francis H. Mialkowski in 1953. She is survived by four children from this marriage; George Mialkowski (Arizona), Joseph Rahl (Florida), Gloria Mialkowski DeRiggi (Illinois) and Frank Mialkowski (Arizona). She leaves behind her grandchildren; Tiffany DeRiggi, Brittany DeRiggi, Lauren Mialkowski, Christopher Mialkowski and Justin Rahl.   She graduated from DePaul University with a Degree in Laboratory Technology but Gerri’s life revolved around charity work, church, community, and staying active with friends and family.  In 1967 she married the true love of her life Earl S. Rahl and they moved to Fall Creek, WI then Chippewa Falls, WI where she worked diligently at Kmart for 23 years until reaching retirement. Earl and Gerri then settled in Tempe, AZ planning on enjoying retirement life together but unfortunately Earl passed away in 1999.   Always remaining active with church and community, Gerri lived simple. She enjoyed cards with a potluck dinner with friends, taking long walks and her deep love of animals was apparent. Volunteering at the hospital, starting a bereavement group at her church, she was a member and leader of the church's funeral committee  and a Eucharistic Minister delivering communion to the home bound, her unselfish giving had no limits. She prided herself in taking care of those less fortunate.   Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29th from 10 a.m. until time of Mass 11 a.m. at the Kerry Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights.  Inurnment will take place at a later date in Arizona where she will be reunited with her husband Earl at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider the following instead, send a Mass card, Her exact words were, “that’s the only thing that will do me any good!”, or a donation in her name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 “so we can do someone else some good!”
