Alice Lillian Boyajian (birth name Samarjian)

August 17, 1934 - January 13, 2024

Hopkinton, Massachusetts – Palos Heights, IL

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Alice Lillian Boyajian of Palos Heights IL, on January 13th, 2024.

Born on August 17th, 1934 in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, to Armen and Vera Samarjian. Her mother was a survivor of the Armenian Genocide, and Alice was a beacon of resilience and heritage.

As the middle daughter between Margaret and Irene, Alice's early years on the family poultry farm were filled with poetry shared with her father, cooking with her mother, and great pride they took in

their working farm. Alice now joins in Heaven her parents, Armen and Vera Samarjian, and her sisters, Margaret and Irene.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 67 years, Sarkis Boyajian, and their cherished daughters, Dr. Susan Mardoian, Joyce Alcocer-Michaels, and Jill Soghomonian, along with their spouses, Paul, Mark, and Jon.

A loving grandmother to Hope, Rachel, Melissa, Dani, Madeline, Zachary, Luke, and Natalie, and a great-grandmother to Sofia, Alice's legacy of love and family will forever live in their hearts. Her life was a journey of joy, marked by her passionate involvement in the Armenian community at Sts. Joachim and Anne Church and her cherished winters in Periwinkle Park on Sanibel Island, Florida.

Alice's devotion to the Armenian community was unparalleled. She was a pillar of Sts. Joachim and Anne Church, serving as the Sunday School Superintendent, chairing the Women's Guild,

preparing Sunday Mas for decades, singing in the Church choir, and leading numerous church events. Her tireless efforts extended to St. Nerses Camp and Hye Camp (an annual Armenian summer camp), impacting countless lives with her service, guidance, and warmth.

Her interests included gardening, knitting (blankets and scarves for her family), sewing, baking, cooking, antiquing, sea shelling, reading, and nurturing her deep connections with her family and friends. Her beloved pets, Yahoo the parrot and Bella the cat, will also be fondly remembered.

The Parish of Sts. Joachim and Anne will hold a visitation with the family on Saturday, January 20th, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, followed by a church service at 10:30 am, and interment thereafter. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Saints Joachim & Anne Armenian Church, 12600 Ridgeland Ave.,Palos Heights, IL 60463.

Asdvadz Hokeen Loosavoreh. May God enlighten her spirit...
