Catherine “Kitty” (Power) Glennon, age 93, of Palos Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Catherine was born in 1932 in Doonaha Village, County Clare, Ireland, to Mary Crawford and Michael Power and a place she held dear throughout her life. In the 1950’s, she bravely emigrated by ship to the United States to join her brother, beginning a new chapter that would ultimately lead her to Chicago. There, she met her beloved husband, Mike Glennon, and together they raised their family while Catherine worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. She lived on the South Side of Chicago before settling in Palos Heights.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mike Glennon (1997); her sister, Mary; and her brothers, Paddy, Joe, and Jimmy. Catherine is survived by her brother, Tommy Power of Ireland; her daughter, Rose Glennon; her son, Michael Glennon; her daughter in law Laura Glennon and her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Madeline, and Conor Glennon, who were the joy of her life.
A devout Catholic, Catherine practiced her faith daily and lived by its values. She was deeply devoted to her family and took great pride in attending her grandchildren’s basketball games and musical performances. Known for her selflessness and kindness, Catherine consistently put others before herself and quietly cared for those around her.
Catherine will be remembered for her strength and perseverance, her unwavering faith, her deep love of family, and the many treasured memories she leaves behind.
