Elizabeth Gallegos

May 28, 1967 — January 10, 2026

Listen to Obituary

Elizabeth Gallegos Martinez, 58, passed away peacefully at home in Chicago, Illinois, on January 10, 2026, after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer.

Elizabeth was born on May 28, 1967, in Mexico to Ruben and Marina Martinez. She built a life rooted in love for her family and a strong work ethic. For 20 years, she was a dedicated employee at JPMorgan, where she showed up every day with commitment—and the strong belief that she ran the place (and honestly, she probably did). Her coworkers became like a second family to her.

Family was everything to Elizabeth. She loved her grandchildren more than anything, and they were her greatest joy. She enjoyed watching football, basketball, and just about any sport. Her loyalty to the Chicago Bears—through every high and low—will always be remembered.

She also found joy in betting on just about anything and had a quick wit that kept everyone laughing. Her strength, resilience, and unconditional love will live on in all of us.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Jose Luis Gallegos; her daughters, Lisette Martinez Gallegos (Noe) and Brandy Gallegos (Philip); her seven beloved grandchildren: Jade Lizbeth Guevara, Elisha Martinez, Dinah Shalom Martinez, Daniela Jireh Martinez, Gabriela Martinez, Richard Ruben Rizza, and Sonny Ezra Rizza; and her siblings, Gloria Gallegos, Elena Martinez, Adelina Martinez, Raul Martinez, Eva Martinez, and Joel Martinez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Marina Martinez, and her younger brother, Ruben Martinez.

The family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. For donations or inquiries, please contact Brandy Gallegos at (773) 499-5418.

May she rest in eternal peace, going with God, guided by His loving hand and welcomed into His everlasting light.

With love,
