Helen T. Groskopf

Helen Groskopf of Palos Heights (formerly of Calumet Park and Blue Island) passed away peacefully on July 15th at the age of 99.

She was the cherished wife of the late Leonard and loving mother of Tom (Martha), Nancy (Gary) Hunter, Carol (Marc) Nehls, and Patti (John) Faustino. She is preceded in death by her son Wayne.

Helen was proud Busha of Wayne (Beth) Brower, Gary (Carissa) Hunter, Dawn Bean, Tina Kelly, Carli (Mike) Yazumbek, Valerie Nehls, Grace Faustino, Jenna Hunter and Sarah Faustino.

She worked many jobs while raising her family, including as a prominent friendly face to all patrons at Iverson’s and Baumann’s bakeries. Her proudest accomplishment was caring for her husband and family.

Helen’s feisty personality and engaging banter will be missed by all who knew her. She was a force of nature; a strong woman who wasn’t shy about sharing her feelings.
