Jameson (Jamie) Meneou

It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Jamie Meneou, who left us too soon on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the age of 20. Jamie, along with his devoted father, passed away in a tragic drowning accident while enjoying one of Jamie's favorite activities: playing catch with a football.

Born June 16, 2005, Jamie was a sweet and loving young man who brought a happy attitude to every encounter. Though he lived with autism, his bright smile and loving disposition transcended any challenges. Jamie had a unique way of communicating, even with few words, and his natural cheerfulness touched countless lives.

Jamie's passions were simple and brought him much joy. He found delight in airplanes and helicopters, dinosaurs, and trains. His love of music and singing was woven into all his activities and interactions. His beloved dogs, Buddy and Pal, held a special place in his heart, as did his church community. Above all, Jamie cherished his mom and dad. He shared an especially loving bond with his papa, his grandfather Warren Meneou.

Jamie was a cherished member of the Giant Steps community in Lisle, where he began his journey in kindergarten and was currently enrolled in their transition program. He loved going to school and formed special relationships with many staff members and fellow students over the years.

Jamie's life was filled with memorable moments. Highlights included his confirmation at Good Shepherd, graduating high school from Giant Steps, participating in the school's annual football day with the Tri-City Chargers, and attending prom. He enjoyed many day trips into Chicago, visiting the Shedd Aquarium to view the Beluga whales and watch the penguins swim, the Museum of Science and Industry to spend time in the train exhibit, and the Field Museum to walk among the dinosaurs he loved, as well as many trips to Brookfield Zoo. He loved family vacations to Branson and the Wisconsin Dells, as well as a special trip flying to California to spend time with his uncle Chris. Jamie especially enjoyed driving his boat with his dad and attending Ford Mustang car club events with his dad, papa, and Uncle Dan.

Jamie is preceded in death by his beloved uncle, Chris Keller, and grandmother, Sandra Keller. Jamie was an only child and is survived by his loving mother, Candace Keller Meneou and her partner Neil Prock; his grandfather, James Keller; his grandparents, Warren and Carol Meneou; his uncles, Dan Meneou and Mark Meyer; and his aunts, Wendy Meyer, Kathi Neitzel Hewes of Colorado, and Angela Keller of California. He also leaves behind his cousins, Max and Alexis Meneou, Kate McLaughlin of Colorado, Leif Neitzel of Michigan, Kyra Hewes and Tamzen Keller of California, and Magic Keller of Missouri.

Jamie's gentle spirit, infectious smile, and loving heart will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
