Listen to Obituary

Gene M. Kent, age 74, was born and raised in Evergreen Park, where he spent most of his life before moving to Palos Heights, where he lived in recent years. He passed away peacefully on Sunday October 5, 2025.

A proud graduate of Evergreen Park High School, class of 1969, Gene dedicated over 40 years of his life to his craft as a carpenter and was a devoted member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 10. He was the hardest-working man his family and friends knew, a true craftsman. Raised in the St. Bernadette Parish of Evergreen Park, Gene cherished time spent with his grandchildren, especially teaching them how to fish, and found great joy in gardening alongside his beloved wife.

Beloved husband of 52 years to Eileen (née White). Loving father of Gene (Christina) Kent, Nicholas (Tammy) Kent, and Jennifer (Christopher) Watts. Cherished grandfather of Jessica Watts, Aiden Kent, Abigail and Christopher Watts, and Matthew Kent. Son of the late Violet (née Lenord) and Eugene Kent. Dear brother of Barbara (Robert) Davis, Robert (Cindi) Kent, Susan (Robert) Dipold, Laurie Kent, Nancy Kent, and Pamela (Jeff) Cowenhoven. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and a friend to all that knew him.
