Listen to Obituary

Kathleen A. (Delaney) Mannix, 89, passed away September 4, 2025, in her home in Palos Heights, surrounded in love by her seven children. Kathleen was born in Oak Park, IL on November 18, 1935, to Patrick J. Delaney and Mildred C. (Podalsky). She lived a life dedicated to her family, her Catholic faith, and her community. She was an avid church and civic volunteer throughout her life, and made innumerable contributions to church, health, and political causes in which she emphatically believed.

She was extremely passionate that one needs to stay actively involved to make this a better world. Talking about it is not enough.

Kathleen married Dennis F. Mannix on June 16, 1956, at St. Sabina's Church, Chicago, IL, and together they raised their family in the Queen of Martyrs Catholic parish in Mt. Greenwood Park, on the southside of Chicago.

She is survived by her seven children: Catherine, Dennis (Dawn Starr), Colleen (Mark Devine), Gerry (Maria Vasquez), Tim (Chris Calonder) Therese (Dave Devine) and Michelle (Drew Richards), and well as her 11 grandchildren Caley, Conner, Michael, Brenna, Carly (Angelo Alongi), Elle (Joe Parrish), Devin, Quinn, Sean, Griffin, Shane and 3 great grandchildren Lily, Valerie, and Jack. She'll be missed by Selby and Kody. Baby Gerard Mannix finally holds Mom in Heaven.

Kathleen was the 2nd oldest of 10 siblings. She is survived by her sisters and brothers Maureen (late Ron Wiegand), Donna (late Wayne Rice), Denise (late Paul Gartland), Michael (late Patricia) Delaney, and Dennis Delaney. Welcoming her to Heaven are her older brother Patrick (late Joanne) Delaney, retired CFD, Julie (Robert Ginner), Eileen (late Don Goodwin) and Mary Delaney.

Also welcoming Kathleen to Heaven is her brother-in-law Jack (Jody) Mannix and her sister-in-law Maureen (late John O'Sullivan).

Kathleen is also survived by many, many, many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces that she loved dearly and always wished only the best.
