It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Michelle/Michael Danielle Cole, who departed this life on July 12, 2026, in Elgin, Illinois. Born on September 18, 1987, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chicago.
Michelle was beloved by a devoted family. She is survived by her mother Deborah Cole. She was predeceased by her father Dennis Cole, whose memory remained a guiding presence throughout her life. Michelle's legacy continues through her cherished children: sons Tyler Jordan and Payton Joseph and daughters Estella Rose and Gracelynn Leigh. She is remembered by her loving extended family, including aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was fortunate to have a deep friendship with Kaylee Howells.
From childhood, Michelle distinguished herself as an active and involved member of the community. Early in life, she became involved with Cub Scout Pack 3337, earning recognition through several soap box derby victories and showing a dedication to teamwork and persistence. Her affinity for scouting deepened as she went on to join Troop 337. Michelle also developed a passion for athletics, playing soccer with the AYSO, a baseball with the Palos Youth Club and football with the Palos Stars where she fostered friendships. Her Saturdays were often spent on the lanes, enjoying time with friends on a bowling league where she won several awards.
Michelle’s zest for life extended beyond her accomplishments. She deeply cherished the times spent fishing with her family, especially the memorable summers traveling together to Canada, always striving to catch the much-anticipated “big one.” These trips became enduring traditions, and her love for family adventures never waned. You could often find her in the kitchen learning to cook from her father. Michelle loved making meals for her family. Equally meaningful were her travels to Walt Disney World—the “Most Magical Place on Earth”—where she shared joyous moments with her mother, aunt, and cousins, creating lasting bonds and treasured memories.
A visitation in honor of Michelle will be held on July 29, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Kerry Funeral Home, located at 7020 West 127th Street, Palos Heights, IL 60463. Immediately following, a prayer service will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Michael Cole’s memory to the Gift of Hope Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network. Donations may be made online at giftofhope.org/give or give by calling 312-500-GIVE.
