Nancy A. Lukasik

Nancy A Lukasik (nee Blackman), 72, passed away peacefully in her Palos Heights home, surrounded by her husband and children, on December 14, 2025.

She was married to her loving husband Steve for 48 years and was a beloved mom to her four children, Laura (Brett) Pipitone, Daniel, Brian, and Emily (Christopher) Marchand. Her favorite role was that of Nana to her grandchildren, Dylan Lukasik, Max Pipitone, and Cora Pipitone. Beloved sister to Charles Jr. (Luanne Ellison) Blackman, Mark (Jane) Blackman, and the late Joan Mary Blackman. Additionally, Nancy was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and a beloved “Outlaw” to her husband's six siblings and their spouses. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Corinne. Born and raised in River Forest, IL, Nancy attended St. Luke’s School and Trinity High School, where she developed lasting friendships that spanned more than 65 years. Nancy attended St. Norbert College in DePere, WI, which included studying in Pamplona, Spain, during her junior year. She graduated with a degree in Spanish. In her sophomore year, her friends, the L.V.V.’s, urged her to invite Steve to a turn-a-bout dinner dance. They started dating soon after and were eventually married on March 5, 1977. Nancy and Steve moved to Palos Heights in 1986 and became active members at St. Alexander Parish. She taught in their SPRED program for many years. Her Catholic faith was extremely important in her life, and she always found solace in praying the rosary.

Nancy vacationed annually for over 30 years with her family at Wolf Lake Ranch in Baldwin, MI. There she developed a love of horseback riding and established more close friendships. The other guests developed a fondness for her chocolate chip cookies, and she was the favorite setter on the sand volleyball court. After raising her children, Nancy worked for the National Futures Association in downtown Chicago, starting in customer service and advancing to compliance analyst until her retirement. In retirement, she loved traveling. She was always active, enjoying outdoor walks (NOT running), tai chi, yoga, and wearing out three stationary bikes. She was always the first and last person on the dance floor and especially liked dancing to “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire. Nancy faced her diagnosis and treatment of Glioblastoma with grace and strength admired by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s honor can be made to the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute at Northwestern Medicine Northwestern Medicine or the Super Herber Bros.
