Ronald DeBoer Faulstich, 83, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025. He was the cherished son of the late Henry Wilke Faulstich and Ruth DeBoer Faulstich.
Ron is survived by his wife, Maryann Sochat; his beloved children Todd, Nicole (Jenn Furuglyas), Ashley Shubert (Joel), Maxx; and his #1 grandson, Ezra.
He was a proud graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, DeVry Institute of Technology, and the Illinois Institute of Technology, earning multiple degrees in mathematics and physics. He went on to share his love of the subject for more than 30 years as an admired instructor at Moraine Valley Community College.
Beyond the classroom, Ron took pride in maintaining a meticulous lawn, enjoyed investing in the stock market, and religiously enjoyed breakfast at his favorite spots around town. Raised in Chicago’s Old Irving Park neighborhood, he became a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and his years at the University of Illinois cemented his devotion to the Fighting Illini. Those who knew him will remember his intelligence, outgoing nature, and unwavering dedication to his children.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kerry Funeral Home (7020 W. 127th St., Palos Heights, Illinois). A memorial service will take place there on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Ron will be laid to rest at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
