Listen to Obituary

Thomas Joseph Scanlon,

Beloved husband, for over 60 years, of Peggie M. Scanlon (nee Hanley),

Loving father of Kathryn P. (Randy) Remold, Mary E. (Bob) Walsh, Anne M. (Matthew) Johnson & John W. (Trish) Scanlon.

Cherished grandpa of Kyle, Kristina, Brittany, Brandi, Katie, Lauren, Jack, Ryan, Grace, Connor, Claire, Nora, Aiden & Kiera.

Adored great grandpa of Charlotte.

Caring brother of Margaret, Mary and the late Eugene.

Fond uncle of many nieces & nephews.

Dear cousin to many.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents John and Catherine (nee Hickey) Scanlon.

Thomas grew up on a farm in County Waterford, Ireland. As a young man, he met the love of his life, Peggie Hanley. The adventurous couple immigrated to the United States, married, settled in Chicago and started a family. Soon afterwards they began a construction business, building homes for many families. As Thomas and Peggie raised their four children, they became very involved in the St Alexander parish in Palos Heights. He was an avid sport fan, loved his Irish heritage, and was a true American patriot. Most of all he was a dedicated family man, a devout Catholic and will forever be in our hearts.
