Bill Doyle of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2025.
Bill was born in Chicago to William F Doyle Sr. and Rosemary L Doyle (nee Walsh). Bill graduated from St. Bede the Venerable Grammar School and St. Rita High School. During his time in high school, Bill realized his love of track and field and writing. He was the captain of the varsity track team and an editor of the school newspaper The Ritan. His love of running followed him to Northern Illinois University, where he ran for 4 years. After attending NIU, he then acquired his Law Degree from The Catholic University of America.
Bill started working in the building trades at age 16. After college he became a journeyman pipefitter and member of Local Union 597. Later becoming a Construction and Project Manager for Praxair and Air Liquide for over 20 years. He was a certified Master Rigger and ran large construction jobs all over Canada and the United States.
Bill was also a prolific writer. He had many unique insights as a skilled tradesman in modern America. He has been published in Newsweek and other periodicals. He was in the process of finishing his novel Highline, which delves into the life of a young tradesman in late 20th century America.
Bill was a beloved brother, uncle and friend to all. He was a proud south side Chicagoan with a love of watching sports. His favorites were the White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls. Bill was incredibly passionate about politics and working class issues. He loved to talk politics and listen to a great variety of music. Some of his favorites were Sinead O'Connor, The Allman Brothers Band, and Tedeschi Trucks. In his free time, Bill loved to listen to music while writing, go on long walks, exercise and spend time with family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister (Lenore Doyle), and nephew (Colin Gantz). He is survived by his brothers Jimmy (husband Stephen), Kevin (daughters Claire (husband Nicholas) and Eve), sister Rosie (husband Bill, daughter Meghan, and grandniece Layla); brother-in-law Michael (sons Kevin (wife Stacey) and Michael (wife Maggie); and grandnephews and grandniece (Nathan, Riley, and Jack).
Bill’s favorites of Italian beef and pizza will be provided.
