    Kim and Lori,
We are sorry to hear that your Mom passed away. She was born the same year as our Mom. Our Mom died in 2019, so we know how bittersweet it can be. The video was great as well.t

What an amazing woman who left such a legacy behind

  • Joan Murphy (Saturday, August 13 22 01:51 pm EDT)

Mary Stephens exemplified what it means to be a woman of kindness, caring and compassion. She had such a gentle spirit and impacted the lives of so many as an example to anyone she came in contact with. She raised a beautiful family and wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren to carry on her legacy. She was an enormous help to me as I raised my children and a role model to me on how to project kindness and understanding to our world. My family and I am so grateful for the gifts she shared with all of us. May you rest in peace Mary.

Edward Donald Halleran

Age 81, of Palos Park, Illinois, died peacefully at home on August 4, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.   If there was an adventure to be had…Ed was always on board, no matter how crazy it seemed.  After serving in the US Army, stationed at Wiesbaden Air Force Base, the adventure of marriage and raising 4 children was next on the list.  Whether he was taking the kids on their newspaper route from the side car of his motorcycle, wrangling the horses in the backyard, or taking any brave volunteers (usually Eddie) for a ride in his Cessna airplane, life was all about the thrill!  If you ever drove through Oak Lawn in the 80s and 90s, you may have seen his name in lights at one of the banquet halls he owned, advertising free honeymoons to Vegas for all that booked their reception with him.  Later, pizza parlors were his thing, along with flipping houses, siding and gutters, rebuilding motorcycles, and just sitting in the sun watching the planes go by. Judo was his true passion. He earned his black belt and continued to attempt to instill the same discipline in his own children.  Ed’s children and grandchildren have all had lessons in how to hambone, but nobody could get the mouth pop as well as Umpa!    Edward was preceded in death by his son, Edward Terrence; parents Annie and Michael; brothers Mike, Gene, and Jim; and many members of the “Clowns” who are all having a party with the newest member to join them on the other side. Ed is joyfully survived by his daughters Kathleen (Davi) Whiting, Ann Marie Halleran, and Meghan (Carter) Sterling; Grandchildren Christopher, Danielle, Katelyn, Piper and Sawyer; Great Grandson Christopher Grey; his sisters Ann (Charlie) Olson and Dorothy Smith; and his ex-wife and friend to the end, Kathy Halleran.  “I’m, not as good as I once was – but I’m as good once as I ever was!”  Visitation Monday, August 8th from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.   Chapel prayers Tuesday, August 9th, 9:30 a.m. at the KERRY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CARE CENTER, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights proceeding to Saint Alexander Church, Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

I met Eddie in 1958 when we were teenagers. We went our separate ways in 1962 and I didn’t meet up with him again until 2015. He didn’t lose his ability to make me laugh or tell funny stories in the 53 years we didn’t see each other. He became a great friend again. He’ll be missed
    Love, Kay Walsh-Durkin

  • Don Stube (Sunday, August 07 22 11:31 am EDT)

I met Eddie in 1953. In 1955 he started working for Geno’s Pizza on
79th and about Lawndale. They had just opened and after a few weeks they needed more help and
I remember Eddie coming over to my house a telling me about making $5.00 a night working from
4pm till midnight. We made a lot of
Pizza’s . Then we went to Irish Herman’s , another Pizza start up for bigger and better things. I could never make a pizza as fast as Eddie.
In 1962, after I got out of the Army,
We hit the road for 3 months going to Arizona, CO, Ut, Mexico and Other states in his new 1962 Olds Cutlass. What a trip.
Eddie was always a unique character and I will miss him.
